US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Urban Remedy, a San Rafael, California establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Salads and Wraps that contain Spinach due to suspected risk of Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Salads and Wraps with Spinach are subject to this recall

  • An estimated total of 30 Black Rice Umeboshi Bowls, sold in 12-ounce bowls with a use-by date of 9/15/2019 and a UPC of 813377 022595
  • An estimated total of 21 The Benedict Brunch Bowls, sold in 9.7-ounce bowls with a use-by date of 9/15/2019 and a UPC of 813377 022854
  • An estimated total of 14 Samosa Cauli Wraps, sold in 6.7-ounce wraps with a use-by date of 9/15/2019 and a UPC of 813377 023097
  • An estimated total of 11 Green Tea Leaf Salads, sold in 6.7-ounce bowls with a use-by date of 9/15/2019 and a UPC of 813377 023158

According to the FDA, Urban Remedy has recalled an estimated total of seventy-six (76) Salads and Wraps that contain Spinach that may be contaminated with E. coli. Seventy-six salads and wraps are still unaccounted for and must be assumed to have been purchased by customers for immediate consumption. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Salads and Wraps identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Salads and Wraps, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Salads or Wraps to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
