Canada/Ottawa: PepsiCo Foods Canada, a Mississauga, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Tostitos branded Medium Salsa Con Queso due to suspected spoilage and consequential risk of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Salsa products are subject to this recall:

  • Tostitos branded Medium Salsa Con Queso, sold in 628 ml glass jars with metal lids, a best-before date code of 20 AL 24, a batch/lot of 5201207TQ16 and a UPC of 0 60410 07302 5

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the CFIA, PepsiCo Foods Canada has recalled certain batch/lots of Tostitos branded Medium Salsa Con Queso from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected spoilage and consequential risk of bacterial infection. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Salsa products identified above.

==> For information about Botulism, E. Coli Poisoning, Listeriosis (Listeria poisoning) or Salmonellosis (Salmonella poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Salsa products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Botulism, Listeriosis or Salmonellosis.
