Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Pig Ear Dog Treats are subject to this recall:

  • Berkley & Jensen branded Pig Ear Dog Treats, produced by Dog Goods USA LLC (“Dog Goods”) and sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club stores in 30-ear packs.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the pet food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Pig Ear Dog Treat products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the FDA, the recalled non-irradiated bulk and packaged Pig Ear Dog Treats were imported from a sole Brazilian supplier, sold from September 2018 to August 2019 and distributed US nationwide in retail stores. The distribution of these products may be related to the potential Salmonella contamination noted during an ongoing FDA investigation of Salmonella illness across the United States in both humans and pets.

The FDA, together with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) and several state health regulatory partners, is investigating a link between Pig Ear Dog Treats and human cases of Salmonellosis. This recall is being linked to an earlier recall for Pig Ear Dog Treats produced by Dog Goods USA LLC and initiated after Rhode Island Department of Health (“RIDOH”) testing found Salmonella in the above-identified Berkley & Jensen branded Dog Treats.

==> For information about Salmonellosis (Salmonella poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm pet food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Pig Ear Treats, please do not feed them to your pet(s). Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. Wash down all prep surfaces, serving implements and serving bowls with a bleach/water mixture; rinse well with lots of hot soapy water.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle Salmonellosis.
