UK FlagUK/London: Sunburst Snacks Ltd, a Whetstone, London, England establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Spicy Cashews due to undeclared Celery and Mustard, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Spiced Cashew products are subject to recall:

  • Sunburst Snacks branded Spicy Cashews, sold in 45 gram, 65 gram, 150 gram, 160 gram and 170 gram packages with best-before dates of January 2020, February 2020, March 2020, April 2020 and May 2020

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Sunburst Snacks has recalled certain batch/lots of Spicy Cashew products because they may contain Celery and/or Mustard, two ingredients not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to Celery and/or an allergy to Mustard.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Spicy Cashew products and could be allergic to their Celery and/or Mustard ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
