US FlagUS/Washington: Olympia Meats, a Portland, Oregon establishment, recalls an estimated 198 pounds of ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Olympia Provisions branded Mortadella Classica Pork Sausage products due to undeclared Pistachio Nuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pork Sausage products are subject to this recall:

  • Olympia Provisions branded Mortadella Classica Pork Sausage with Garlic and Spices, sold in varying weights of vacuum-packed packages with a best-by date of l2-30-2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “Est. 39928” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were known to have been shipped to retail locations in California, Oregon and Washington.

The problem was discovered after the firm received a complaint from a retail customer. Subsequent investigation found that some packages were labeled as “Mortadella Classica” products but in fact, contained Mortadella Pistachio Sausage products.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pork Sausage products and could be allergic to their Pistachio Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
