Additional information:

Among the 17 recalls the European Union has announced in its fourth report of August 2019, the following recall notification was made:

Batavia branded Giraffe 3.88 Telescopic Ladder Recall [EU]Batavia branded Giraffe 3.88 Telescopic Ladders, sold with a model number of BT-TL001, a product number of 7061176-7061176/6 and an EAN/barcode of 4050255015416.

The type of hazards presented in these recalled Telescopic Ladders include the possibility that the angular rotation of the extended Ladder is too high, adversely affecting the stability of the device and the safety of the operator.

Specifically, a person using the Ladder in its extended position, could lose his or her balance and fall from height. If this defect occurs, a person could suffer serious injuries from the fall including broken bones, laceration or internal injuries.

Due to these defects and their associated risks, these Batavia branded Giraffe 3.88 Telescopic Ladders do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s regulations contained in European Standard EN 131. Consequently, a recall of these products from end users and a withdrawal of the product from the European marketplace has been ordered.
