Rosemount Cooked Diced Chicken Recall [Canada]

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cooked Diced Chicken Meat products are subject to this recall:

  • Rosemount branded Cooked Diced Chicken Meat 13 mm – 1/2″ (#16305), sold in 4.54 kilogram packages with a pack date of 01/21/19 and a UPC of 2 06 20263 12454 7

According to the CFIA, the Public Health Agency of Canada (“PHAC”) is collaborating with Canadian provincial public health partners, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Health Canada to investigate an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections involving three provinces: specifically, British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken products identified above.

As of August 18, 2019, there were seven (7) confirmed cases of Listeria monocytogenes illness in the three (3) provinces: British Columbia (1 case), Manitoba (1 case) and Ontario (5 cases). Individuals became sick between November 2017 and June 2019 and six (6) individuals have been hospitalized. Individuals who became ill range in age between 51 and 97 years of age. Although the number of cases is comparatively small and may not be representative of the overall outbreak population, the majority of known cases (86%) are women.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cooked Diced Chicken Meat products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or other outlet where you purchased them for a full refund.
