Canada/Ottawa: Zaher’s Small Batch, a Sudbury, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of numerous Zaher’s branded Hummus products due to undeclared Sesame and Sulphites, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Hummus products are subject to this recall:

  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Baba Mia, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Carrot + Cumin, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Citrus + Sumac, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Dill Pickle, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Hemp!, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Extremely Hot! No. 13, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Red Baron, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Roasted Jalapeño + Blueberry, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Screaming Baba Mia, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Screaming Dill Pickle, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Traditional, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Velvet Sunshine, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label
  • Zaher’s branded Hummus – Xxtra Garlic, sold in 3-ounce, 8-ounce, 16-ounce and 80-ounce containers; affected batch/lots: all codes where sesame and sulphites are not declared on the label

According to the CFIA, Zaher’s Small Batch has recalled certain batch/lots of numerous Zaher’s brand Hummus products due to undeclared Sesame and Sulphites.

==> For information about Sesame Allergy or Sulphite Allergy, please consult the “Allergens & Intolerances” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Zaher’s brand Hummus products and could be allergic to their Sesame or Sulphite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
