US FlagUS/Washington: Tip Top Poultry, Inc., a Rockmart, Georgia establishment, recalls an estimated 135,810 pounds of fully cooked Tip Top, Perdue, Gordon, Sysco and West Creek branded Chicken products due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken products were produced on January 21, 2019 and display a “pack date 01/21/19” designation on the labels, as follows:

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and wholesale presentation. Additional images of the recalled Chicken products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-17453” inside the USDA mark of inspection or on the case. These items were shipped to hotels, restaurants, and institutions nationwide. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Chicken products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.

Canadian public health and food safety partners, including the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, have been investigating an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes. A ready-to-eat Diced Chicken product collected as part of the investigation tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.
