Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports this recall involves all model year 2013 through 2019 Trek Kicksters Bicycles as follows:

  • The recalled Bikes are made for toddlers who are learning how to ride a two-wheeler. The Kicksters do not have pedals as in a traditional bike so children can focus on balancing and come in black, blue, red and pink color schemes. The brand, “TREK” can be found on the Bikes’ crossbar.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Trek Kicksters Bicycles can be found on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, the steer tube clamp on the recalled Bicycles can break, which could result in the handlebars suddenly detaching. If this defect occurs, it poses fall and injury hazards to children. As of July 22, 2019, Trek Bicycle Corporation had received eleven (11) reports of broken clamps around the world. In the United States, the company had received eight (8) reports of broken steer tube clamps with one (1) report of scratching and bruising. As of the date of this release, however, there have been no known reports of incidents or injuries in Australia or Canada.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Bicycles, please do not use it nor let your child play on or with them. Instead, kindly remove the recalled Trek Kickster Bicycle from your child and take the Bike to a Trek retailer for a free inspection and repair, if necessary.
