Canada/Ottawa: Heinz Turkey Stew Baby Food [Canada]Kraft Heinz Canada, a Toronto, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Heinz branded Turkey Stew Baby Food products due to suspected insect fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, bacterial infection, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Turkey Stew Baby Food products are subject to this recall:

  • Heinz branded Turkey Stew 8+ Months Baby Food, sold in 213 mL glass bottles with a batch/lot number 2021JN04 and a shortened UPC of 0 572200 6

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Kraft Heinz Canada has recalled the above-indicated batch/lots of Heinz brand Turkey Stew 8+ Months Baby Food products from the Canadian marketplace due to the suspected presence of Insect fragments. Parents and other caregivers should neither serve nor consume the recalled Baby Food identified above.

In general, if insect, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal. In addition, insect fragments also carry a risk of bacterial infection with possible life-changing consequences.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle choking, bacterial infection, oral injury, internal ingestion and/or GI tract laceration damage.
