UK FlagUK/London: Waitrose Limited, a London, England establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Waitrose branded Sweet Potato & Coconut Soup and Waitrose branded Roasted Tomato, Bean & Quinoa Soup due to suspected mislabeling and consequential risk of undeclared Soya, all known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Soup products are subject to recall:

  • Waitrose branded Sweet Potato & Coconut Soup, sold in 400 gram pots with a use-by date of 25 August 2019
  • Waitrose branded Roasted Tomato, Bean & Quinoa Soup, sold in 400 gram pots with a use-by date of 25 August 2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image variations of the recalled Soups can be found on the Web site above.

According to the FSA, Waitrose has recalled Waitrose branded Sweet Potato & Coconut Soups and Waitrose branded Roasted Tomato, Bean & Quinoa Soups because some of the pots have been filled with an incorrect food product that contains Soya (Soy), an ingredient not declared product label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to Soya.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Waitrose branded Sweet Potato & Coconut Soups or Waitrose branded Roasted Tomato, Bean & Quinoa Soups and could be allergic to their Soya ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to handle Anaphylaxis.
