US FlagUS/Washington: Kent Quality Foods, Inc., a Grand Rapids, Michigan establishment, recalls an estimated 48,681 pounds of ready-to-eat Teton Waters branded Ranch Cooked Uncured Polish Sausage products made with Beef due to suspected rubber fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Polish Sausage products are subject to this recall:

  • Teton Waters Ranch Cooked Uncured Polish Sausage made with Beef, sold in 36-ounce packages containing three (3) – 12 ounce individually wrapped pieces with use/freeze-by date codes of SEP 16 2019 or SEP 19 2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Cooked Uncured Polish Sausage products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 5694” on the product packaging. These items were shipped to retail locations in California and Utah.

The problem was discovered when the firm received two (2) complaints of extraneous materials from retailers on July 17, 2019 and July 18, 2019.

In general, if plastic or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Cooked Uncured Polish Sausage products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Cooked Uncured Polish Sausage products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
