US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Lennox Intl Inc., an Edison New Jersey establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Pig Ear Treats due to suspected risk of Salmonella contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Pig Ear Treats are subject to this recall:

  • Bulk Pig Ears, sold eight (8)-pack branded pouches with a UPC of 742174 995163 or 742174994166 or packaged individually and shrink-wrapped with a UPC of 0385384810 or 742174P35107.

According to the FDA, the recalled Pig Ear Treats were shipped to US nationwide distributors and/or retail stores from May 1, 2019, to July 3, 2019. Lennox is aware of two (2) incidents of its Pig Ears that caused dog Illnesses which may be related to the potential Salmonella contamination noted during an ongoing FDA investigation of Salmonella illness, associated with what appears to be a multiple source.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm pet food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Pig Ear Treats, please do not feed them to your pet(s). Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. Wash down all prep surfaces, serving implements and serving bowls with a bleach/water mixture; rinse well with lots of hot soapy water.
