US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Herbal Doctor Remedies, an Alhambra, California establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of numerous Chinese Herbal Medicines due to suspected production and marketing without FDA approval and were manufactured outside of the controls required by current Good Manufacturing Practices (“cGMP”) and consequential risk of bacterial infection, viral infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Herbal Drug products are subject to this recall:

  • Asma Aid, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • “Asma” Stopper (please note apparent typo), sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Asthma Balm, sold as an ointment
  • Awake, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Baby Saver, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Bone Fixer, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Cardia Forte, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Deafness Off, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Detensin, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Dragon Pain Balm, sold as an ointment
  • Dragon Pain Oil, sold as a massage oil
  • Edema Off, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Fungo Balm, sold as an ointment
  • Fungo Off, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Glauco-Catar, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Hair Back, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Herpes-G, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules

  • Herpes-S, sold in white plastic bottles containing capsules
  • Herpes-V Balm, sold as an ointment

==> No barcodes, UPCs, DINs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, these products could potentially result in risk to people as they are marketed with intended uses not amendable to self-diagnosis. In addition, lack of controls in the manufacture of the products do not provide assurances of finished product quality. To date, Herbal Doctor Remedies has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall.

These products are intended to be used as Chinese Herbal Medicines marketed for treatment of disease conditions in people. The FDA has determined these medications may constitute unapproved new drugs. They are packaged in white plastic containers with screw-on lids. Each container is identified with an Herbal Doctor Remedies brand white stick-on label and red, green, and blue writing with a product expiry. Products are not identified with a batch/lot number. This recall includes all the Herbal Doctor Remedies brand products and quantities within the labeled 3-year expiry.

You should neither serve nor consume the recalled unapproved Drugs identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Drugs, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the medications to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
