US NHTSA Recalls: Mazda Miata MX-5 Vehicles

Among the 82 recalls the NHTSA has announced this July comes news of the following:

Logo - Mazda North American OperationsMazda North American Operations (“Mazda”) has recalled an estimated 2,476 model year 2016 Miata MX-5 vehicles. The skid plate and metal bracket may detach from underneath the vehicle.

According to the NHTSA, parts that separate from the vehicle may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Mazda will notify registered owners and dealers will replace the skid plate, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 26, 2019. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, option 4. Mazda’s designation for this recall is 3619F.
