US FlagCanada FlagUS/Washington & Canada/Ottawa: Bodum USA Inc., New York, New York establishment recalls an estimated 3,880 Bodum Bistro branded Toasters due to suspected electrical leakage and consequential risk of electric shock, electrocution, fire, burns and property damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves two (2) models of the Bodum branded Bistro Toasters in stainless steel, as follows:

  • Bodum Bistro branded Two-Slice Toasters, sold with an SKU of 10709-16-4 and the brand, “Bodum” embossed on the side of each Toaster.
  • Bodum Bistro branded Four-Slice Toasters (shown above), sold with an SKU of 11840-16 and the brand, “Bodum” embossed on the side of each Toaster.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Toasters can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Toasters can leak electric current when operating at the maximum normal temperature, posing a shock hazard to users and those nearby. No injuries have been reported in the United States. There have been eight (8) reports of people in Canada being shocked when touching the Bodum Bistro branded Toaster.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Bodum Bistro Toasters, please do not use it. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. Owners can also contact Bodum to receive a prepaid mailer to return the Toaster for a full refund

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).
