Canada/Ottawa: Loblaws Companies Limited, a Brampton, Ontario establishment, recalls an estimated 64,100 Joe Fresh branded Baby Girl and Baby Boy Sun Hats due to suspected component detachment and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports this recall involves various styles of Joe Fresh branded Baby Girl and Baby Boy Sun Hats in sizes 0-12 months and 12-24 months. They come in a variety of colours and patterns.

The recalled products bear the following style codes, which can be found on the product tag:

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to Health Canada, the loop fastener on the recalled Children’s Sun Hats may detach. If this defect occurs, it poses a choking hazard to children. As of June 28, 2019, Loblaws had received no reports of injuries or incidents in Canada.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Children’s Sun Hats, please do not use them nor dress your child with them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
