UK FlagUK/London: Leonidas, a Brussels, Belgium establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Leonidas branded Boxed Assortments of Belgian Chocolates may contain varieties due to undeclared Nuts and Sesame, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Chocolate products are subject to recall:

  • Leonidas Assortments of Belgian Chocolates, sold in 375 gram, 500 gram, 750 gram and one (1) kilogram Assortments

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled foods can be found on the Web site above.

According to the FSA, the recalled Leonidas Boxed Assortments of Belgian Chocolates may contain varieties of chocolates that contain Nuts and Sesame Seeds, ingredients not declared on the label of some boxes. The recalled Assortments are made up of individual Chocolates packed in-store in boxes that have the incorrect label. This means that these Assortments are a health risk for anyone with an allergy to Nuts and/or Sesame Seeds.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Belgian Chocolates and could be allergic to their Nuts and/or Sesame Seeds ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to handle Anaphylaxis.
