Knape & Vogt Sit-Stand Workstation Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company, a Grand Rapids, Michigan establishment, recalls an estimated 4,000 third-party branded Sit-Stand Office Workstations due to possible structural collapse caused by excessive weight with consequential laceration, impact and property damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports this recall involves certain Desktop Sit-Stand Office Workstations, sold under various brand names including Adas Elevo Sit-to-Stand Desktop, K&A Manufacturing Helium Surface, 3M Precision Standing Desk, Inscape WS: Skyrockit Height Adjustable Desk; part number 18-000132-02BLK, Neutral Posture Ergonomics StandUp X1, Workrite Ergonomics Solace Desktop, Volante and IMOVR Ziplift Workstations, as follows:

  • The black or white coloured Sit-Stand Workstations can be used in a sitting or standing position and measure approximately 91.44 cm (~36 inches) wide by 60.96 cm (~24 inches) deep. Each Workstation has two (2) handles and two (2) hydraulic gas pressure cylinders that enable the Workdesk to be raised or lowered. Affected Workstations can be identified by the batch/lot number label located on the inside of the right hand top surface bracket of each unit. Affected batch/lot numbers contain the last three letters “VOL”, s follows:
    • 16-######-VOL
    • 17-######-VOL
    • 18-######-VOL
    • 19-######-VOL

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to Health Canada, the recalled Sit-Stand Workstations can malfunction when more than the permitted weight is applied, causing the gas cylinders to separate and forcefully discharge, posing an impact injury hazard. As of the date of this notification, Knape & Vogt Manufacturing had received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received one (1) report of the cylinder suddenly discharging resulting in damage to drywall, and no reports of injuries.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Sit-Stand Workstations, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Knape & Vogt for a free in-home/office repair.
