Canada/Ottawa: Fresh Taste Produce Ltd., an Etobicoke, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Eat Smart branded Sweet Kale Vegetable Salad Bag Kit due to suspected risk of Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports that the following Sweet Kale Vegetable Salad Bag Kit products are subject to recall:

  • Eat Smart branded Sweet Kale Vegetable Salad Bag Kit, sold in 794 gram (28 ounce) plastic pouches, a best-before date of JUL 17 2019, a batch/lot of 2 00 183 and a UPC of 7 09351 89140 3

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Fresh Taste Produce Ltd. has recalled certain 794 gram (28 ounce) Eat Smart branded Sweet Kale Vegetable Salad Bag Kits from the Canadian marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Salad Kits identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Salad Kits, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
