Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Sparkly Candle novelties are subject to this recall:

  • Kaleidoscope Design Your Own Sparkly Candles, sold as craft kits containing two (2) Tealight Candle Holders and elements for decorating/customising the candle holders with a APC/UPC of 9312475977741.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Sparkly Candle novelties can be found on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, the battery compartment may not be adequately secured with a screw in some instances, and the button batteries in the product may be easily accessible. If young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they may suffer internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness and even death. In addition, the batteries may pose a choking hazard to young children.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Sparkly Candle novelties, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the BIG W store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to handle choking and/or ingestion injuries.

==> Small “button” batteries pose special ingestion risks to small children. Devices using them in the home or school should be closely examined and monitored for any breakage or other unintended access that could allow these batteries to be swallowed or otherwise ingested.
