Canada/Ottawa: Allied Global Sourcing Inc., a Richmond, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Emme Foods branded ShangHai Style Deep Fried Turnip Cakes due to undeclared Egg and Shrimp (Crustacean), both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Deep Fried Turnip Cakes are subject to this recall:

  • Emme Foods branded ShangHai Style Deep Fried Turnip Cakes, sold in 320 gram packages (with 80 gram by four individual portions); affected batch/lot codes: all codes where Egg and Shrimp are not declared on the label with a UPC of 6 292640 000265

According to the CFIA, Allied Global Sourcing has recalled certain batch/lots of Emme Foods branded ShangHai Style Deep Fried Turnip Cakes from the Canadian marketplace because they may contain Egg and Shrimp, neither of which is declared on the product label. People with an allergy to Egg and/or Shrimp should not consume the recalled product identified above.

There has been one (1) reported reaction associated with the consumption of these Deep Fried Turnip Cakes.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled ShangHai Style Deep Fried Turnip Cakes and could be allergic to their Egg and/or Shrimp (Crustacean) ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle Anaphylaxis.
