US FlagUS/Washington: American Honda Motor Company Inc., a Torrance, California establishment recalls an estimated 82,000 Honda Pioneer 1000 Recreational Side-By-Side Vehicles due to suspected throttle pedal malfunction and consequential risk of uncontrolled acceleration, crash, injury and property damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves all model year 2016 through 2019 Honda Pioneer 1000 Recreational Side-By-Side Vehicles.

The recalled ROVs were sold in various colors including: red, blue, green, gray and yellow. The brand, “HONDA” is on the front, sides and the rear of the vehicle. The model name Pioneer 1000 is printed on a label located on both sides of the vehicle, near the rear. The serial number (“VIN”) is stamped in the frame at the left rear, below the tilt-up bed/seat. The following model numbers and serial number ranges are being recalled:

  • Model year: 2016; serial number: SXS10M3*
  • Model year: 2016; serial number: SXS10M5*
  • Model year: 2017; serial number: SXS10M3*
  • Model year: 2017; serial number: SXS10M5*
  • Model year: 2018; serial number: SXS10M3*
  • Model year: 2018; serial number: SXS10M5*
  • Model year: 2019; serial number: SXS10M3*
  • Model year: 2019; serial number: SXS10M5*

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the brakes can fail in the recalled ROVs, posing crash and injury hazards. Honda has received fifteen (15) reports of the throttle pedal sticking in the open position, including six (6) crashes, resulting in a report of a concussion and a broken nose.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
