US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Sprouts Farmers Market, a Phoenix, Arizona establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Frozen Cut Leaf Spinach, both Conventional and Organic sold in 16-ounce bags and manufactured by National Frozen Foods, an Oregon establishment, due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Frozen Leaf Spinach products are subject to this recall:

  • Sprouts Frozen Cut Leaf Spinach, sold in 16-ounce plastic bags, with a batch/lot designation of 19031203A03, a use-by date of 12/03/21 and a UPC of 87487500982
  • Sprouts Frozen Organic Cut Leaf Spinach, sold in 16-ounce plastic bags, with a batch/lot designation of 19031203A03, a use-by date of 12/03/21 and a UPC of 87487500991

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated when random sampling found the finished Frozen Leaf Spinach products tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Spinach identified above.

The recalled Spinach products were known to have been distributed to retail locations in AZ, CA, NV, UT, NM, CO, TX, KS, OK, MO, TN, AL, GA, FL, SC, NC, PA, MD, and VA.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Frozen Leaf Spinach products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Spinach to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
