US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Mai Cuisine Inc., a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania establishment, recalls an estimated 31 packs of Spicy Shrimp Tempura Roll and 32 packs of Spicy Shrimp Tempura Crunch Rolls due to undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Shrimp Tempura Roll products are subject to this recall:

  • Spicy Shrimp Tempura Crunch Roll sold in 9.1-ounce clear-lid containers with labels indicating the product name and ingredients with a “hand-crafted” date of 6/15/2019, a best-by date 6/17/2019 and a UPC of 8 12824 01526 5
  • Spicy Shrimp Tempura Roll sold in 9.1-ounce clear-lid containers with labels indicating the product name and ingredients with a “hand-crafted” date of 6/15/2019, a best-by date 6/17/2019 and a UPC of 8 12824 01525 8

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Tempura Rolls containing Egg were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of Egg. Although these products have a shelf life of just one (1) day, the firm has recalled these Rolls to ensure customer safety. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Spicy Shrimp Tempura products identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Spicy Shrimp Tempura products and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
