US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Frito-Lay North America, a Plano, Texas, establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Lay’s Lightly Salted Barbecue Flavored Potato Chips due to undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Potato Chip products are subject to this recall:

  • Lay’s Lightly Salted Barbecue Flavored Potato Chips, sold with a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of 27 AUG 2019 and a nine-character manufacturing code that includes the numbers “29” in the second and third position (example: x29xxxxxx) listed below the Guaranteed Fresh date. These numbers can be found on the right side of the front of the bag. In addition, the recalled Chip bags will also have a UPC of 28400 63242 printed on the bottom left side of the back of the bag.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered that bags of Lay’s Lightly Salted Barbecue Flavored Potato Chips were inadvertently filled with another flavor of Potato Chips, potentially exposing consumers to undeclared Milk.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Potato Chips and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle Anaphylaxis.
