US FlagUS/Washington: Perdue Foods LLC., a Bridgewater, Virginia establishment, has recalled an estimated 31,703 pounds of Ready-To-Eat Chef Quik and Perdue branded Chicken products due to suspected Bone Fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following fully cooked Chicken products were produced on March 21, 2019 and are subject to this recall:

  • Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Tenders – Gluten Free, sold in 11.2-ounce plastic trays with a use-by date of May 20, 2019 and a UPC of 072745-001437
  • Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets – Whole Grain, sold in 12-ounce plastic trays with a use-by date of May 20, 2019 and a UPC of 072745-001642
  • Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Strips – Whole Grain, sold in 12-ounce plastic trays with a use-by date of May 20, 2019 and a UPC of 072745-002656
  • Chef Quik Breaded Chicken Tenders Boneless Tender Shaped Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat, sold in 10-pound bulk boxes with a case code of 22143
  • Chef Quik Chicken Breast Strips Strip Shaped Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat, sold in 10-pound bulk boxes with a case code of 77265

According to the USDA, the Chicken products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. P-369” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations US nationwide.

The problem was discovered after the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) and the company received consumer complaints concerning possible Bone Fragments. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken products identified above.

In general, if bone fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Smoked Sausage products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
