US FlagUS/Washington: Richwell Group, Inc., doing business as Maxfield Seafood, a City of Industry, California establishment and the Importer of Record, recalls an estimated 154,560 pounds of Yellow Walking Fish, a type of Siluriformes, due to suspected failure to present for import re-inspection upon entry into the United States, a serious health hazard. In addition, the products were produced at a Vietnamese establishment that was not eligible to export Siluriformes Fish products to the United States.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Siluriformes, specifically Yellow Walking Fish, were imported from Vietnam to the United States on various dates ranging from March 2018 through January 2019. The following Fish products have a shelf life of two (2) years and are subject to this recall:

  • Farm Raised Individually Quick Frozen Frozen Headless Yellow Walking Fish Clarias macrocephalics, sold in varying weight packages, each containing two (2) pieces of Fish
  • Farm Raised Individually Quick Frozen Frozen Headless Yellow Walking Fish Clarias macrocephalics, sold in varying weight packages, each containing three (3) pieces of Fish
  • Farm Raised Individually Quick Frozen Frozen Yellow Walking Fish Clarias macrocephalics, sold in varying weight packages, each containing two (2) pieces of Fish
  • Farm Raised Individually Quick Frozen Frozen Yellow Walking Fish Clarias macrocephalics, sold in varying weight packages, each containing three (3) pieces of Fish

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, these items were shipped to retail locations US nationwide.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Maxfield Seafood’s Walking Fish products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
