Inghams Sweet Chilli Chicken Kiev Recall [Australia]

Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Inghams Enterprises Pty Ltd, a North Ryde, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Sweet Chilli Chicken Kiev products due to suspected rubber fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Chicken products are subject to this recall:

  • Sweet Chilli Chicken Kiev, sold at Woolworths Deli Counters known to have been sold on 19 May, May 20 and 21 May 2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, the recall was initiated due to suspected blue rubber fragments. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Sweet Chilli Chicken Kiev products identified above.

In general, if rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Chicken Kiev Meals, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
