US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Hearthside Food Solutions, a Woodridge, Illinois establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of 7-Eleven branded The Italian Job Sandwiches due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Prepared Sandwich products are subject to this recall:

  • 7-Eleven branded The Italian Job Sandwiches, sold in with a sell-by date code of 0523 with a UPC of 5254859970

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after a Sandwich was not scannable at the store. It was subsequently discovered that an obsolete “Italian Style Sub” label was applied, which did not declare “reduced fat mayonnaise,” an ingredient that contains eggs. An example of the recalled label is included with this release.. In total, an estimated 1038 Sandwiches were distributed to 362 separate 7-Eleven stores located in Indiana, Wisconsin and Illinois.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled 7-Eleven branded The Italian Job Sandwiches and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
