Canada/Ottawa: Loblaw Companies Limited, a Brampton, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of President’s Choice branded and PC Black Label branded Sauces due to suspected glass fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following prepared Sauces are subject to this recall:

  • President’s Choice branded Creamy Horseradish, sold in 250 mL jars; affected batch/lot designations: all best-before dates up to and including 2019 SE 09 and with a UPC of 0 60383 69304 6
  • President’s Choice branded Thai Red Curry Cooking Sauce, sold in 400 mL jars; affected batch/lot designations: all best-before dates up to and including 2019 DE 15 and with a UPC of 0 60383 99378 8
  • PC Black Label branded Lemon Curd, sold in 250 mL jars; affected batch/lot designations: all best-before dates up to and including 2019 SE 21 and with a UPC of 0 60383 16670 0

According to the CFIA, Loblaw Companies Limited has recalled certain batch/lots of President’s Choice branded and PC Black Label branded Sauces from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected glass fragment contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Sauce products identified above.

In general, if glass or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled prepared Sauces, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
