Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain batch/lots of Bodum + Starbucks co-branded Recycled Coffee Presses partially made from recycled materials.

  • The recalled 8-cup French Coffee Presses’ cylindrical glass beaker, screen and plunger are held in place by a plastic dark gray frame with locking lid and a light gray handle and knob. The Recycled Coffee Presses measure approximately nine (9) inches high by about four (4) inches in diameter and have a SKU number 011063549 printed on a white label on the bottom of the base. The brand, “Bodum” and the phrase, “Made in Portugal” are embossed on the bottom of the unit’s dark gray plastic base.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Coffee Press’ plunger knob can break and expose the metal rod. If this defect happens, it poses a laceration hazard. Starbucks has received eight (8) reports of the plunger’s knob breaking in the US and one (1) report of the plunger’s knob breaking in Canada, resulting in lacerations or puncture injuries.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Bodum + Starbucks Recycled Coffee Presses, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Starbucks for instructions on how to return the coffee press to receive a full refund in the form of a store credit. Returns will not be accepted in stores.

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).
