K2D Foods Raw Ground Beef Recall [US]

US FlagUS/Washington: K2D Foods, doing business as Colorado Premium Foods, a Carrolton, Georgia establishment, recalls an estimated 113,424 pounds of Raw Ground Beef Puck products due to suspected risk of Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O103 contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Ground Beef products were produced on March 26, March 29, April 2, April 5, April 10, and April 12, 2019 and are subject to this recall:

  • Two 24-lb. vacuum-packed packages in cardboard boxes containing raw Ground Beef Puck with use-thru dates of 4/14/19, 4/17/19, 4/20/19, 4/23/19, 4/28/19 or 4/30/19

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and wholesale presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Ground Beef products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 51308” inside the USDA mark of inspection on the boxes. These items were shipped to distributors in Port Orange, Florida and Norcross, Goergia for further distribution to restaurants.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Ground Beef products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) is concerned that some of the recalled Ground Beef product may be in refrigerators or freezers of restaurants. Restaurants that have purchased these products are urged not to serve them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
