US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Mondelēz Global LLC, a East Hanover, New Jersey establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies due to suspected risk of unidentified foreign fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cookie products are subject to this recall:

  • Chips Ahoy Chewy Cookies, sold in 13 ounce packages with a batch/lot designations of 07SEP2019, 08SEP2019, 14SEP2019 or 15SEP2019

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated due to the potential for certain Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies to contain an unexpected solidified ingredient. Some reports of potential adverse health effects have been received.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Cookies to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
