Jensen Tuna Frozen Ground Tuna Recall [US]

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Jensen Tuna Frozen Ground Tuna products are subject to this recall:

  • Frozen Ground Tuna, sold individually packaged in clear plastic one-pound bags and packed in 20 pound white waxed boxes in wholesale cases with twenty bags in each case and batch/lot numbers of z266, z271 and z272

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, The product was sold to wholesalers in Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, New York, and Washington. These wholesalers further distributed the product to restaurants and retail locations. The product was distributed from November 30, 2018 to March 15, 2019.

Restaurants and retailers should check with their suppliers and not sell or serve recalled Frozen Ground Tuna and should wash and sanitize locations where recalled Ground Tuna was stored. Consumers with concerns should ask their restaurants and retailers whether the Tuna dish they are purchasing contained the recalled Ground Tuna.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your wholesaler, distributor or retailer as applicable for refund or toss it out in your garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Frozen Ground Tuna products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Tuna to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle Salmonella poisoning.
