Among the 42 recalls the NHTSA has announced this April comes news of the following:

Logo - Mazda North American OperationsMazda North American Operations (“Mazda”) has recalled an estimated 187,798 model year 2016-2018 Mazda3 vehicles. A defective windshield wiper relay in the recalled vehicles may cause the windshield wipers to become inoperative, reducing the driver’s visibility and pose a serious danger in rain or snow.

According to the NHTSA, reduced visibility while driving especially in the presence of rain or snow can increase the risk of crash.

Mazda will notify registered owners and dealers will replace the front body control module with a new module which uses an improved wiper relay design, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 3, 2019. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, option 4. Mazda’s designation for this recall is 3219D.
