US FlagUS/Washington: Sakar International doing business as Vivitar, an Edison, New Jersey establishment, recalls an estimated 60,000 Hot/Cold Massage Balls sold at Target Stores due to suspected structural failure and consequential burns, fire and property damage, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves Vivitar Hot/Cold Massage Balls.

  • The recalled Massage Balls are teal, light pink or lavender in color and come in a package of two (2) balls – one smooth ball and one with raised bumps. The brand, “Vivitar”, the model number, date code and UPC can be found on the bottom of the product packaging. The date code can also be found on the smooth ball, as follows:
    • Vivitar Massage Balls, sold with a model number of F19-MB-TL, a date code of MID# 1940918 and a UPC of 681066474037
    • Vivitar Massage Balls, sold with a model number of F19-MB-LP, a date code of MID# 1940918 and a UPC of 681066305645
    • Vivitar Massage Balls, sold with a model number of F19-MB-LV,  a date code of MID# 1940918 and a UPC of 681066182475

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the Massage Balls can leak or rupture during or after microwaving, posing a burn hazard to people who use the devices. The firm has received 84 reports of Massage Balls, bursting during microwaving, including 17 reports of burns to various parts of the body.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Massage Balls, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
