Canada/Ottawa: Lee’s Provisions Inc., a Toronto, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Lee’s branded Teas due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Tea beverage products are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Lee’s Tea branded Gold Rush Loose Leaf, sold in 110 gram sachets with a UPC of 6 28055 21002 3 and a product code or batch/lot designation of 4-102318, 4-102518, 2020DE07GR, 2021FE11GR, 2021FE15GR or 04-02021
  • Lee’s Tea branded Mint Chill Loose Leaf, sold in 70 gram sachets with a UPC of 6 28055 21003 0 and a product code or batch/lot designation of 2-102518, 2020DE07MC, 02-01019 or 02-02021
  • Lee’s Tea branded Original Loose Leaf, sold in 50 gram sachets with a UPC of 6 28055 21001 6 and a product code or batch/lot designation of 1-101918, 1-102518, 2020DE07OG or 2020MR21OG
  • Lee’s Tea branded Pink Chai Loose Leaf, sold in 90 gram sachets with a UPC of 6 28055 21004 7 and a product code or batch/lot designation of 3-112018, 3-102518, 2020DE07PC, 2021JA07PC, 2021JA23PC, 2021FE05PC, 2021FE11PC or 03-02021
  • Lee’s Tea branded Pink Chai Loose Leaf, sold in 30 gram sachets with a UPC of 6 28055 21014 6 and a product code or batch/lot designation of 3062718

According to the CFIA, Lee’s Provisions Inc. has recalled certain batch/lots of numerous Lee’s branded Teas from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination.

==> For information about Salmonellosis (Salmonella poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Tea beverage products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle bacterial contamination including Salmonellosis.
