Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Carbatec Pty Jet Bandsaw Recall [Australia]Carbatec Pty Ltd, an Auburn, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Jet Bandsaws due to suspected failure to earth the machine correctly and consequential risk of operator electric shock and/or electrocution, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Bandsaw products are subject to this recall:

  • Carbatec Pty Jet Bandsaws, models JWBS-15M, JWBS-18M and JWBS-20M

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Bandsaw can be found on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated because the Bandsaw may not be earthed correctly, posing a risk of electric shock and/or electrocution. Electrical hazard due to possible lack of earth.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Bandsaws, please do not use them. Instead, kindly following these instructions:

  • If the Bandsaw is in private use, please contact Carbatec to arrange a ‘test and tag” as soon as possible. Alternatively, an electrician can check the machine. Do NOT use the Saw until it has been tested and tagged or checked by an electrician.
  • If the Bandsaw is in commercial use, please ensure the machine has a current “test and tag”.
  • Please advise Carbatec of the result of the ‘test and tag’ or check of the saw by an electrician. If the Saw fails the ‘test and tag’ or the check by an electrician, Carbatec will arrange repair of the Saw.
