Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Inghams Enterprises Pty Ltd, a North Ryde, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Ingham’s Chicken Breast Schnitzel Gluten Free due to suspected mislabelling and undeclared Gluten, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Chicken Breast Schnitzel products are subject to this recall:

  • Inghams Chicken Breast Schnitzel Gluten Free, consisting of coated Chicken Breast Schnitzel and sold in 440 gram PET trays with a film seal with a best-before date code of 08.04.19

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to suspected incorrect packaging and labelling. Specifically, the company’s Southern Style Tenders product were packaged and labelled as Gluten Free Schnitzel. Although both products contain Chicken, the Southern Style Tenders product does contain Gluten, in contrast to what its packaging indicates, while the Gluten Free Schnitzel product does not.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Chicken Breast Schnitzel products and could be allergic to their Gluten ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
