US FlagUS/Washington: La Rosita Fresh Market Inc., a Mount Prospect, Illinois retail establishment, recalls an estimated 54 pounds of Raw Ground Beef products due to suspected Escherichia coli contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Raw Ground Beef products were produced on March 13, 2019 and March 14, 2019 and are subject to this recall:

  • Molida De Res Ground Beef, sold in varying weights of Ground Beef packed in white trays with plastic wrap, labeled as “packed on 3/13/19 sell by 3/20/19” or “packed on 3/14/19 Sell By 3/21/19” from the La Rosita Fresh Market Inc. retail store, located at 1805 West Algonquin Road, Mount Prospect, Illinois, 60056.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the suspected E. coli O157:H7 contamination was discovered on March 14, 2019, by US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) investigators through routine product sampling. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Raw Ground Beef products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
