Out of the Blue Fish Bar Clam Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Out of the Blue Fish & Seafood Market, a Bayfield, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Bottled Bar Clams due to suspected Clostridium botulinum contamination and consequential risk of Botulism, a Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Bar Clam products are subject to this recall:

  • Out of the Blue Fish & Seafood Market branded Bottled Bar Clams, affected batch/lots: all units sold from October 1, 2018 up to and including February 28, 2019
  • Unbranded Bottled Bar Clams, affected batch/lots: all units sold from October 1, 2018 up to and including February 28, 2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Out of the Blue Fish & Seafood Market has recalled certain batch/lots of Bottled Bar Clams from the Canadian marketplace because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria that causes Botulism. Consequently, you should neither serve not consume the recalled Clam products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Bottled Bar Clams, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation.
