Canada/Ottawa: Logo - Canadian Food Inspection Agency Old Fashion Foods, a Regina, Saskatchewan establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Debittered Brewer’s Yeast due to undeclared Peanuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Brewer’s Yeast products are subject to this recall:

  • Debittered Brewer’s Yeast, sold in 250 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to and including February 11, 2019.
  • Debittered Brewer’s Yeast, sold in 500 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold up to and including February 11, 2019.

According to the CFIA, Old Fashion Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Debittered Brewer’s Yeast products from the Canadian marketplace because they contain Peanut, an ingredient not declared on the label. People with an allergy to Peanuts should not consume the recalled product identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Brewer’s Yeast products and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle Anaphylaxis.
