Vienna & Cara Dinner Roll Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Canadian Food Inspection AgencyThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency, an Ottawa, Ontario-based health and safety regulatory authority, recalls certain batch/lots of Vienna Flat Bottom Rolls and Cara brand White Dinner Rolls due to suspected metal fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Dinner Rolls are subject to this recall:

  • Not branded Vienna Flat Bottom Rolls, sold in packages of 62 – 112 gram rolls (for an approximate total weight of 6.9 of kilograms) with a production date of 2019 JAN 25, a batch/lot code of 00959072 and a UPC of 0 07 34730 39139 7
  • Cara branded White Dinner Roll, sold in packages of 200 – 45 gram rolls (for an approximate total weight of 9 kilograms) with a best-before date code of 2019 OCT 21, a batch/lot code of 00957070 and 1 00 56884 32744 0

According to the CFIA, it has recalled certain batch/lots of Vienna Flat Bottom Rolls and Cara brand White Dinner Rolls due to suspected metal fragment contamination.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Bread Rolls, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
