US/Silver Spring: Claire’s Stores, Inc., a Hoffman Estates, Illinois establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Claire’s Eye Shadow, Claire’s Compact Powder and Claire’s Contour Palette due to suspected Asbestos contamination and consequential risk of serious adverse health consequences, life-changing complications including Cancer, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cosmetics are subject to this recall:

• Claire’s Eye Shadow, sold with a SKU of 84716, a batch/lot number 08/17 and a UPC of 888711847165
• Claire’s Compact Powder, sold with a SKU of 83915, a batch/lot number 07/15 and a UPC of 888711839153
• Claire’s Contour Palette, sold with a SKU of 40194, a batch/lot number 04/17 and a UPC of 88871140194

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after testing by the Food and Drug Administration indicated the possible presence of Asbestos fibers in product samples from one lot of each product. Inhalation of Asbestos over time has been linked to serious adverse health consequences including some forms of Cancer.

All three products were offered for sale between October 2016 and March 2019 and have been removed from the American marketplace. They were sold in Claire’s stores US nationwide and on http://www.claires.com.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm Cosmetic poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any drug or cosmetic, return it to your retailer for refund, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect product.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cosmetic products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another preparation. Instead, return the Cosmetics to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
