US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Jansal Valley branded Dukkah Recall [US]Sid Wainer and Son of New Bedford, Massachusetts establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Jansal Valley branded Dukkah, an Egyptian condiment consisting of a mixture of herbs, nuts (typically Hazelnut) and spices, due to suspected glass fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Spice products are subject to this recall:

  • Jansal Valley branded Dukkah, sold in six (6) 2.5 ounce cans with a best-by date of 08/28/2020 and a case batch/lot code of L2033968 and an individual can code of L2034198

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Sid Wainer and Son has recalled certain batch/lots of Jansal Valley branded Dukkah due to suspected glass fragment contamination. The Dukkah products were distributed US nationwide.

In general, if glass or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Jansal Valley branded Dukkah products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, contact Sid Wainer and Son for advice before disposing of this product.
