Canada/Ottawa: Grain Process Enterprises Brewers Yeast Recall [Canada]Grain Process Enterprises Ltd.., a Scarborough, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Grain Process Enterprises branded Brewer’s Yeast Debittered and Inactive Brewer’s Yeast due to undeclared Peanuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Brewer’s Yeast products are subject to this recall:

  • Grain Process Enterprises Ltd. branded Inactive Brewer’s Yeast Powder, sold in 25 kilogram packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold from February 22, 2018 up to and including February 11, 2019 with a UPC of 0 57736 01749 9
  • Grain Process Enterprises Ltd. branded Yeast Brewer’s Debittered, sold in 10 kilogram packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold from February 22, 2018 up to and including February 11, 2019 with a UPC of 0 57736 01745 1
  • Grain Process Enterprises Ltd. branded Yeast Brewer’s Debittered, sold in 5 kilogram packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold from February 22, 2018 up to and including February 11, 2019 with a UPC of 0 57736 01750 5
  • Grain Process Enterprises Ltd. branded Brewer’s Yeast Debittered, sold in 500 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all units sold from February 22, 2018 up to and including February 11, 2019 with a UPC of 0 57736 01747 5
  • Grain Process Enterprises Ltd. branded Yeast Brewer’s Debittered, sold in 300 gram tubs; affected batch/lots: all units sold from February 22, 2018 up to and including February 11, 2019 with a UPC of n/a

According to the CFIA, Grain Process Enterprises has recalled certain batch/lots of Grain Process Enterprises branded Brewer’s Yeast Debittered products from the Canadian marketplace because they contain Peanut, an ingredient not declared on the label. People with an allergy to Peanuts should not consume the recalled product identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Brewer’s Yeast products and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle Anaphylaxis.
