US FlagUS/Washington: Red Chili Orange Chicken Skewer Recall [US]Custom Made Meals, LLC, a Denver, Colorado establishment, has recalled approximately 7,954 pounds of Red Chili Orange Chicken Skewer products due to suspected mislabeling and consequential risk of undeclared Coconut, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken Skewer products are subject to this recall:

  • Red Chili Orange Chicken Skewers, sold in 9.11-pound cases, each containing four (4) plastic packages with a case code of 79073 and various use-by dates between October 15, 2018 and January 28, 2019.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-4121A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Illinois and Wisconsin and donated to organizations in Denver.

The problem was discovered on January 16, 2019, when personnel at Custom Made Meals observed production employees with nut allergen stickers and determined that a “Coconut Teriyaki Tropical” seasoning was being utilized on the product. The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) was notified on January 17, 2019.

Please note: due to the Trump Administration’s partial shutdown of several agencies within the US government, communication of this notification has been significantly delayed.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Chicken products and could be allergic to their Coconut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
