The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pork Patty products are subject to this recall:

  • Johnsonville Grillers branded Raw Ground Pork Patty Cheddar Cheese & Bacon Flavor, sold frozen in 24-ounce (1.5 pound) plastic bags-in-a-carton with a “best flavor by” code of 7/24/2019
  • Johnsonville Grillers branded Raw Ground Pork Patty Cheddar Cheese & Bacon Flavor, sold frozen in 24-ounce (1.5 pound) plastic bags-in-a-carton with a “best flavor by” code of 8/13/2019
  • Johnsonville Grillers branded Raw Ground Pork Patty Cheddar Cheese & Bacon Flavor, sold frozen in 24-ounce (1.5 pound) plastic bags-in-a-carton with a “best flavor by” code of 8/14/2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the product subject to recall bears establishment number “34225” printed on the carton end under the “best flavor by” date. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide. The problem was discovered when the firm received three consumer complaints regarding black rubber in the product. US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) was notified on January 17, 2019.

Please note: due to the Trump Administration’s partial shutdown of several agencies within the US government, communication of this notification has been significantly delayed.

In general, if rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Johnsonville Grillers Raw Ground Pork Patty products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
